Last month our marvellous marketing team took home the Best Marketing Campaign Award at Develop:Star, and we were so proud to see them recognised for their amazing work! Leading and supporting that team is our lovely Head of Marketing and Communications, Rebecca Sweetmore, who we’re now pleased to see is shortlisted for a Women in Games Award!
Shortlisted in the Comms Impact category, Rebecca’s work is being recognised for her achievements and expertise in marketing, PR, events, communications and more. The Women in Games Awards look to recognise the talented people in the industry who identify as women and are making an incredible impact.
When asked what this nomination meant to Rebecca, she said:
It's the second time I have been nominated for this award; the first time was a wonderful surprise and made me feel valued, but I realised that you shouldn't need to wait for someone else to recognise your achievements, so this time I nominated myself, so when I was shortlisted, I felt pretty proud of myself!

Rebecca’s self-nomination is following in the footsteps of our CEO, Kirsty Rigden, who also nominated herself for a Women in Games award back in 2019 and won the Businesswoman of the Year. FuturLab is proud to have a diverse team made up of passionate, talented people, with many women in management and leadership roles. On the topic of what it’s like to be a female leader at FuturLab, and the importace of the Women in Games Awards, Rebecca said:
It's very rewarding to have a seat at the table and not feel like you have to fight to be seen or heard, which is my experience as part of the Senior Leadership Team at FuturLab. Unfortunately, that's still not the case across the industry, which is why these awards and any initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and positive change to the industry are still needed and relevant today.
The winners of the Women in Games Awards will be announced on 25th September 2025, during an awards ceremony at the America Square Conference Centre in London. Best of luck to all the nominees, and we have our fingers crossed that Rebecca takes home this well-deserved award!
