Here at FuturLab we’re passionate about supporting the gamers charity, SpecialEffect and the important work they do to transform the lives of physically disabled gamers with the use of innovative technology. Their annual fundraising campaign, One Special Day, is on Friday 3rd October and here at FuturLab we’re supporting them by spending the month of September walking as many steps as possible in a virtual walk challenge.
As a studio, we have ONE MONTH (3rd September to 3rd October) to walk 2.5 million steps! We're walking (virtually) from Land's End to John o' Groats - that's one end of Great Britain to the other! Each day we’re logging our real-life steps and tracking our progress across the country. At the time of writing this blog, our team has already walked over 670k steps and roughly 280 miles! That puts us in Gloucestershire, walking through the lovely Cotswolds on our way north.
We’d love it if you could donate to our team’s challenge to not only cheer on our devs, but also give to this amazing cause. Also, FuturLab will be matching all donations up to a max total of £500, so you’ll be donating double! Our fundraiser page can be found here, please share it far and wide!

This challenge is not only ideal for our remote-first team, it’s also inspired by SpecialEffect’s One Special Walk event happening on One Special Day! If you’d like to get involved in their 25km walk across London, you can find out more information here.
A few months ago, some of our most daring devs did a skydive for SpecialEffect and we’re thrilled to be supporting them once again! At the heart of their work is the mission to maximise fun and quality of life by helping people control video games to the best of their abilities.
